2nd PYC Ravetkar Football League Championship for Guardian team in Under 14 category

Pune, July 9, 2023: In the second PYC Ravetkar Football League tournament organized by PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Guardian team defeated Shield team 3-1 in the tiebreaker in the final in the under-14 group to clinch the title.

Both the teams initially battled it out in the finals in the under-14 category at the Bounce Fitness and Sports Club ground. Shield’s Ojas Naik scored a goal in the second minute to open the team’s account. After that, Ishan Lagu of Guardian, Samvit Kasat, who were trailing, made a daring move, but the Shield keeper saved them. Shield held a 1-0 lead in the first half.

In the second half, however, Guardian’s front line sharpened its attacking edge. In the 16th minute, Samvit Kasat’s pass was scored by Ishaan Lagu to equalize the team. After that, both teams put in strong efforts. But they did not succeed. As the match was tied 1-1 in regulation time, the tiebreaker system was adopted. In the tiebreaker Samvit Kasat, Asim Devgaonkar scored for Guardian, while Agastya Kunte, Ojas Naik, Anandi Bedekar, Rishabh Bedekar failed to score for Shield.

The winner of the tournament, the Guardian team, was awarded a trophy, while the runner-up, the Shield team, was awarded a trophy. The prize distribution of the competition was done by Sarang Lagu, Honorary Secretary of PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Mandar Tamhane, CEO of North East United, Aditi Ravetkar of Ravetkar Group and Chandrasekhar Nanivadekar, Treasurer of the club. Competition Director Abhishek Tamhane, Nandan Dongre, Abhishek Bhagwat, Siddharth Date and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.

Guardian: 3(Ishan Lagu 16m, Samvit Kasat, Asim Devgaonkar) (Goals missed: Atharva Ingalhalikar, Vihan Kothari) VS Shield in tiebreaker: 1(Ojas Naik 2m), (Goals missed: Agastya Kunte, Ojas Naik) , Anandi Bedekar, Rishabh Bedekar); Man of the Match – Ishan Lagu.
