5 heroes of the World Cup 2011 winning team, whose contribution hardly anyone remembers

The Indian team won the ODI World Cup after 28 years in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The Indian team then silenced its critics. 6. R Ashwin
Spinner R Ashwin was also a part of that World Cup winning team. where he was playing as the team’s third spinner. This player doesn’t get much credit. But his contribution in the quarter-final against Australia was very important. Ashwin played only 2 matches in that World Cup. But, in that he took 4 wickets at an impressive average of 23.25. Meanwhile, he only scored at an economy of 4.65 and a bowling strike rate of 30. He also fielded well.

Ashwin is not given the credit though. But this player had a significant contribution in reaching the semi-finals. But even today this player is not considered as the hero of World Cup 2011 victory.

5. Munaf Patel
Medium pacer Munaf Patel was also a part of that World Cup winning team. Where he was playing as a leading fast bowler. This player doesn’t get much credit. But his contribution in the semi-final against Pakistan was very important.

Munaf played only 8 matches in that World Cup. But in which he took 11 wickets at an impressive average of 32.09. Meanwhile, he only scored at an economy of 5.36 and a bowling strike rate of 35.09. And Munaf took wickets on important occasions. Yet profits do not get much credit. But he played a vital role in taking the team to the finals. Due to which the team won the title in its name. Munaf had troubled all the batsmen of that time with his bowling variety.

4. Suresh Raina
Indian middle order batsman Suresh Raina was also a part of that World Cup winning team. Where he was seen batting at the base. This player doesn’t get much credit. But his contribution in the semi-final against Pakistan was very important.

Raina played 4 matches in that World Cup. In which he scored 74 runs at an excellent average of 74 and a strike rate of 98.66. Among them his best score was 36 not out. Raina scored few but important runs.

In the first quarter-final, Raina supported Yuvraj Singh till the end, while he scored important runs in the semi-final against Pakistan. And gave India a respectable score. Due to this, the team easily made it to the finals of the World Cup 2011.

3. Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh, who plays the role of the main spinner in the Indian team, is not even credited for the 2011 World Cup victory. He handled the responsibility of spin aggression very well. Yet this player doesn’t get much credit. But his contribution in the semi-final against Pakistan was very important.

Virender Sehwag, the opener and attacking style of batting, is not credited with the 2011 World Cup win. At the start of the innings, Sehwag was seen playing aggressively. Sehwag played a very important role as a player.

1. Virat Kohli
Many may have even trolled Virat as a captain who has not won an ICC trophy. But Virat was a part of the 2011 World Cup winning Indian team. Virat had scored a century in India’s first match against Bangladesh in this World Cup. But as Sehwag scored 175 runs at that time, Virat’s century was covered somewhere.

Not only this, Virat shared an 83-run partnership with Gambhir in the final against Sri Lanka. Which gave stability to India’s innings. Further half-centuries by Dhoni and Gambhir helped India win this World Cup. Virat had played 9 matches in this World Cup and scored 282 runs.
