6, WD, 6, W, 6, 6, 6 . Abhishek slips out of Hyderabad’s hands, Stoinis-Pooran storm
The 58th match of the 16th IPL season was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday (May 13). Lucknow won by 7 wickets in this match played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Marcus Stoinis, Prerak Mankad and Nicholas Pooran were the match winners for Lucknow. On the other hand, spinner Abhishek Sharma cost a fortune for Hyderabad.
Abhishek Sharma spent 42 runs in three overs and took one wicket. Abhish had spent 11 runs in the first two overs of his quota. But in the third over he was washed away. Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis together sweated out their consecration. Abhishek spent as many as 31 runs in the 16th over of Lucknow’s innings. After Mark Stoinis hit a six off the first ball, Abhishek bowled the next ball wide. Then Abhishek played the second ball of the over for a six.
Although Stoinis was in terrific form this time, he played a mistimed shot off the third ball and was caught by Abdul Samad. Nicholas Pooran came in to bat after Stoinis’ wicket. Pooran hit three consecutive sixes in the innings on the pitch. For Abhishek Sharma, this over can be described as a nightmare.

Overall, Hyderabad won the toss and batted first. Hyderabad scored 182 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Lucknow scored 185 for 3 in 19.2 overs and won the match. Nicholas Pooran scored 44* in just 13 balls. Meanwhile, his strike rate was 338.46. Stoinis scored a 25-ball 40 while Prarak contributed a 45-ball 64*.

After this win, Lucknow Super Giants team has reached the fourth position in the points table. Lucknow have won 6 out of 12 matches played so far in the season, while the team has 13 points with one match remaining. Lucknow Super Giants have a chance to reach the playoffs. However, the road ahead seems to be tough for the fifth ranked Rajasthan. Rajasthan have also played 12 matches and won 6 so far. The Hyderabad team has slipped to 9th position after this defeat and has almost been thrown out of the playoff race. Hyderabad have lost 7 out of 11 matches and have 8 points.
