A big blow to the Australian team! Will Pat Cummins withdraw from the ODI team with the third and fourth Tests?
The Australian cricket team’s woes are far from over. The Australian team had to accept defeat in the first two matches of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy against India. The third match between the two teams will be played from March 1 and skipper Pat Cummins will not be available for this match. According to the latest information, Cummins may withdraw from the whole India tour.
Pat Cummins, the Test captain of the Australian team, came on the Australia tour of India with the team, but suddenly he returned home due to the deterioration of his mother’s health. As Cummins’ mother is still unwell, Cummins may also withdraw from the fourth Test after the third Test in the series. Meanwhile, Cummins’ performance in the first two Tests against India was not satisfactory either. Cummins took 2 wickets in the first Test in Nagpur, while he took 1 wicket in the second Test played in Delhi. Apart from that, the decisions taken by Cummins as captain also did not benefit the team.
The third Test match between the two teams will start on March 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. In this match, as Cummins has already withdrawn, Steve Smith will play the role of captain. If Cummins pulls out of the fourth Test, then Smith may have to take over the captaincy. Australia’s performance so far in this tour has been quite disappointing. In the Nagpur and Delhi Tests, Australian batsmen were seen kneeling before the spinners. India won the first test match by an innings and 132 runs, while in the second test they defeated Australia by 6 wickets. Both these Test matches were decided in three days each.
Mitchell Starr and Cameron Greene will return
Meanwhile, there is good news for the Australian team ahead of the third Test match. His fast bowler Miches Starc and all-rounder Cameron Green are fully fit for the third Test. In this case, there will be a new challenge from the Indian team in the form of these two. Also, Travis Head could open India’s innings along with Usman Khawaja after opener David Warner returned home due to injury. (Australia captain Pat Cummins may withdraw his name from full India tour)
