World Cup Schedule Five matches each will be played in Pune and Mumbai. However, not a single match will be played in this World Cup at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. Reacting to it, Anil Deshmukh tweeted. He wrote,
Extremely disappointed that Nagpur has been ignored for hosting #CWC2023 matches. It has all the facilities in place from a world class stadium to matching city infrastructure. The administration should look beyond Mumbai and Pune and stop ignoring Vidarbha. I request BCCI to…

“We are disappointed as none of the ODI World Cup matches will be held in Nagpur. All the facilities required for an international match are available here. The administration should go beyond Mumbai and Pune and consider Vidarbha as well. We request BCCI that some matches should be played here as well.’
Responding to this, Maharashtra Cricket Association President Rohit Pawar tweeted,

‘Sir, it is right that we take Vidarbha’s side, but there is no discrimination in sports. Although we are unhappy that the matches will not be held in Vidarbha, as per the ICC criteria, the matches should be held at only 6 or 8 venues. But today, due to the special efforts made by BCCI, matches will be played in 10 places in India and practice matches in 2 places, total of 12 matches will be held in India. Considering the number of stadiums in the country, some states must have been unfairly treated, but since Maharashtra will have the most matches, I have also thanked BCCI and ICC on behalf of Maharashtra. Entire Maharashtra will come to watch these matches and we must come too!.’
For the first time since the 1996 World Cup, the World Cup matches will be held in Pune. The matches will be played at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, near Pune.
