Indian team’s experienced batsman Ajinkya Rahane once again showed his quality. After 18 months, Rahane got an opportunity to play for the Indian team for the World Test Championship. The performance of Rahane, who returned to the team after such a long time, became the most important for the team. Rahane came on the field when the team was in trouble and played a big knock under pressure. He fell just 11 runs short of his century. Rahane’s 89 runs put India in good shape. Ravi Shastri, the former coach of the Indian team, has praised him after this innings.

Rahane paired with all-rounder Shardul Thakur after Bharat was dismissed early on the third day. The duo put on a century partnership for the seventh wicket to give the Indian team a comeback. Rahane scored 89 runs off 129 balls. This was the best performance for the Indian team in this match. Praising him after his struggling innings, Ravi Shastri said,

“Ajinkya is a true team man. He carries out the responsibility given to him with utmost sincerity. He does not feel short of carrying drinks on the field as a twelve and a player. The way he faced the Australian bowlers today is commendable.”

Apart from Shastri, former Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Sourav Ganguly also praised him. Australia needs to get out quickly in the second innings for Indian team to win this match. With Australia leading by 296 runs at the end of the third day’s play, the Indian team will look to go ahead in the match on the fourth day.
