Akash Madhwal’s journey from ‘Hero to Zero’! Washing by Gujarat Titans batsmen

Mumbai Indians fast bowler Akash Madhwal failed to shine in Qualifier Two. Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 62 runs in this match. Akash took five wickets at the expense of five runs in the eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants. It was the best bowling performance by an uncapped player in IPL. But it was Akash Madhwal that cost Mumbai dearly in the eliminator match.

In the eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants, Akash Madhwal was able to take 5 wickets in 3.3 overs with 5 runs. Lucknow Super Giants were literally on their knees before his penetrating strike. He took the wickets of Prerak Mankad, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi and Mohsin Khan. However, fans got to see Akash’s journey from hero to zero in the match against Gujarat Titans. Akash took the wicket of Shubman Gill who was the highest run-scorer for Gujarat Titans in the qualifier match. But he also became the second highest run-scorer for Mumbai in the match. Akash spent 52 runs and took one wicket in four overs.

Due to Akash’s lethal bowling, Lucknow’s entire team could score 101 runs in just 16.3 overs in the eliminator match. But he could not maintain consistency in his performances. Akash became the second costliest bowler for Mumbai in the match against Gujarat Titans. Chris Jordan top-scored the team in Gujarat and failed to take a single wicket. Jordan spent as many as 56 runs in his four overs.

Overall, Mumbai were given a target of 234 runs to win this match between the two teams. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma looked in rhythm. But they also lost wickets by scoring 61 and 43 runs respectively. Batting first, Shubman Gill scored a blistering 129 off just 60 balls for Gujarat Titans.
