According to a report in a reputed foreign newspaper, Mumbai Indians, owned by Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, may sign Jofra Archer for a year for a hefty fee. Permission will have to be sought from Mumbai.Mumbai Indians have five teams (including the women’s team) from different countries.
As per the terms of the contract, England and Wales Cricket Board will have to get permission from Mumbai Indians for Jofra Archer to play international cricket. Under the one-year contract, Archer could be seen playing for other franchises of Mumbai Indians as well.
However, no official information about the deal has come out yet. It will also be interesting to see if Archer agrees. Archer has played very little cricket in the last two years. He made a comeback in the T20 league in South Africa where he played 11 matches. He has not played much in IPL either.
Interestingly, the Mumbai Indians team supported Archer strongly regarding his injury. He was included in the IPL auction last year despite not being fit. The Ashes series is going to be held in England, for which the ECB does not want to take any risk. That is why Archer has to return. This is reported by Daily Mail.
