Amelia-Sophie century clinches New Zealand’s emphatic victory as Sri Lanka lose by 111 runs

New Zealand team is on tour to Sri Lanka. In this tour, both teams will play 3-match ODI and 3-match T20 series. This ODI series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is being played under the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. Sri Lanka won the first match of this series. However, in the second match, the New Zealand women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 111 runs. With this, the series was also tied at 1-1. Amelia Kerr was awarded the player of the match award for her brilliant performance in this match.

On Friday (June 30), Sri Lanka Women vs New Zealand Women played their second ODI match at the Galle Stadium. In this match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat. Batting first, New Zealand Women put up a brilliant display scoring 329 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Chasing these runs, the Sri Lankan women’s team lost all wickets in 48.4 overs and ended up on 218 runs. Therefore, the New Zealand women’s team won this match by 111 runs.

Kavisha Dilhari scored the most runs while batting for Sri Lanka. She scored 84 runs off 98 balls. While making these runs, she hit 9 fours. Apart from her, no batsman could cross the 20-run mark. So the Sri Lankan team had to lose.

This time Lee Tahuhu took the most wickets while bowling for the New Zealand team. She took 4 wickets for 31 runs while bowling 8 overs. Apart from her, Eden Carson took 2. Also, Hannah Rowe, captain Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr and Fran Jones took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, while batting first, captain Sophie Devine scored the most runs while batting for New Zealand. Batting at number four, she scored 137 runs off 121 balls. This included 2 sixes and 17 fours. Apart from her, Amelia Kerr also scored a century. She scored 108 runs off 106 balls. It rained 1 six and 7 fours. Apart from these two, no other batsman could play a special innings. However, with the strength of both of them, New Zealand had raised a big challenge, due to which they managed to win.

Oshadi Ranasinghe took the most wickets while bowling for the Sri Lankan team. She took 3 wickets for 68 runs in 10 overs. Apart from her, Udeshika Prabodhani took 2 wickets, while Sugandhika Kumari and Inoka Ranveera took 1 wicket each.
