Another matchwinner leaving Lucknow for home! Decision taken for ‘this’ reason
The 51st match of IPL 2023 was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In this match, Gujarat Titans Vs. Lucknow Super Giants teams were facing each other. In this match, Gujarat won by 56 runs against Lucknow. Lucknow’s chances of going to the play-offs have been reduced to a certain extent by losing this match. Meanwhile, Mark Wood, the leading fast bowler of the team, left for home.
Mark Wood was signed by Lucknow last year. However, last year he could not play a single match due to injury. This time he took five wickets in his first match while bowling powerfully. However, after playing a few matches, he had to face an injury once again. Even so, he was with the team. However, he has now left for England to be with his wife during the birth of their second child. A video of his farewell has been posted on Lucknow’s social media handle. Now he won’t be joining the team again.
Congratulating his team, he said,
“I am going home for the birth of my child. Definitely sad to be leaving the team. Our players have done well so far. Now, at the end, there is a need to push a bit, and our players will definitely do that. Looking forward to playing for this great team again next year.”
Wood has taken 11 wickets in five matches this season. On the other hand, Lucknow team has so far scored 11 points from 11 matches with 5 wins and one point from a canceled match. They need to win their remaining three matches to enter the play-offs.
