The Indian team will tour the West Indies in the month of July. India have to play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20 Internationals during this tour. Test and ODI series will be played initially in the tour. Meanwhile, the BCCI announced the Test and ODI squads for the West Indies tour on Friday (June 23). Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has got a chance in both these teams. Mukesh, who has been a part of the Indian team before, can make his debut this time.
Mukesh, a right-arm fast bowler, got his chance in the Indian team during the ODI series against South Africa earlier this year. However, he could not make his debut. Playing for Delhi Capitals in the subsequent IPL, he won everyone’s hearts with his crucial overs. He was among India’s stand-by players for the final of the recently concluded World Test Championship.
Mukesh represents Bengal in domestic cricket. Apart from this, he has also represented India A and Rest of India teams. A look at his performance in domestic cricket will show what kind of performance he has achieved. He has so far taken 149 wickets in 39 first-class matches. Along with that, while playing 24 matches in List A cricket, he has shown the way to 26 batsmen. Additionally, he has 32 wickets in T20Is.
Mukesh can swing the ball well on both sides. That will benefit the Indian team. Mohammad Shami has been rested for this series. So Mukesh will have a chance to make his international debut.
