Arjun with best performance, Sukhmeet in semi-final, Havaldar Narayan Para in single sculls final
Pune – Olympian Arjun Lal Jat along with international medalists Sukhmeet and Havaldar Narayan entered the semi-finals of the senior group national rowing competition on Wednesday. The competition is being held at the International Track at Army’s CME.
On the first day of the competition
Tokyo Olympian Arjun topped the lightweight double sculls category with a time of 7 minutes 3.29 seconds along with Ajay Tyagi. Arjun was followed by 2018 Asian Games quad gold medalist Sukhmeet in the semi-finals in two races. Sukhmeet along with Zakkar Khan clocked 7 minutes 1.30 seconds in double sculls. After that, Sukhmeet, Zakkar, Arvinder, Salman Jodi reached the semi-finals with a time of 6 minutes 34.77 seconds in the sculls category of four.
In the open double sculls, Senadal’s leading pair of Parminder and Shagandeep posted a time of 7 minutes 7.55 seconds. Meanwhile, Narayan, a bronze medalist at the 2022 World Sailing Championships in Poland, entered the finals of the para single sculls event. He clocked 8 minutes 30.21 seconds. On the first day, 20 women’s and 34 men’s races were held. Before that, the tournament was inaugurated by Major General Vinayak Saini, Chief of CME.
