Jaiswal scored his maiden century with the help of 11 fours in 215 balls against West Indies at Windsor Park in Dominica. After this century, he became the 17th Indian player to score a first century on his Test debut.

India lead 1-0 in the series
Indian team beat West Indies by 1 innings and 141 runs in the first match of this series. Jaiswal scored the most runs for India in this match. He scored 171 runs off 387 balls. This included 1 six and 16 fours. Apart from him, Rohit Sharma (103), Virat Kohli (76) and Ravindra Jadeja (37) also contributed. On the other hand, R Ashwin took 5 wickets, Jadeja 3 wickets, Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur 1 wicket each in the hosts’ first innings. Also, Ashwin shined in the second innings as well.
