Ashes 2023: Australia 263 all out in first innings, Mark Wood takes 5 wickets for England

The third Test between England and Australia started on Thursday (July 06). Australia did not capitalize on the opportunity on the first day of the Test being played at Leeds’ Headingley ground. At one time, the Australian team was playing at 240 for 4. However, England made a brilliant comeback and took 6 wickets within 23 runs. Also, Australia were bowled out for 263 runs

This time Mark Wood (Mark Wood) bowled brilliantly from the England team. He took 5 wickets at the cost of 34 runs in 11.4 overs. England’s legendary batsman Joe Root dropped the catch of Australia’s all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for 12 runs. Taking advantage of this, Marsh gave a good chop to the England bowlers. He made a storming innings of 118 runs off 118 balls. This included 17 fours and 4 sixes.

Marsh, playing as a substitute for an injured player, is playing his first Test after almost four years. In this match, he scored a brilliant century of 118 runs. Had Root caught Marsh on a personal score of 12, Australia would have stumbled to 98 for 5. Marsh also hit 17 fours and 4 sixes while playing an aggressive innings of 118 runs.

Chris Woakes caught Marsh in the hands of Zac Crowley to give England their fifth wicket. Before that, England captain Ben Stokes had won the toss and decided to bowl. This time, David Warner sent the first ball of the match for a boundary off the bowling of Stuart Broad. However, on the fifth ball of the over, Broad sent Warner to the tent by Zac Crowley.

Wood, who was ruled out of the first two Tests due to fitness-related reasons, troubled the batsmen with his fast bowling. He bowled the first three overs without a run. Also, the first run came on the 23rd ball. Wood took opener Usman Khawaja (13) for a hat-trick on a quick and swinging ball to give Australia their second wicket.

Jonny Bairstow failed to catch Smith, who was playing his 100th Test match. However, Woakes had Marnus Labuchen (21) caught by Root. Bairstow then gave life to Head off Wood. Broad made a brilliant comeback and sent Smith to the tent for 22, caught by Bairstow. Therefore, Australia lost 4 wickets for 85 runs.
