Ashes 2023. ‘Australian fans hate me…’, Marsh’s agony comes to light after a century
The third match of Ashes 2023 saw the Australian team struggling to score. However, when the team was in trouble, Mitchell Marsh scored a blistering century and took the team to a respectable total. Marsh, who returned to the Test team after almost four years, scored a century in this match, but after this century, a video of Marsh is going viral. In the video, Marsh talks about not getting the love he expected from Australian fans.
This third Test match of Ashes 2023 is being played at Headingley Stadium in Leeds. Australia won the first two matches of the series by two wickets and 43 runs respectively. In the third match, however, England started strongly. On the very first day, the English bowling attack seemed to overwhelm Australia. Mark Wood took five wickets for England in the first innings and restricted Australia to a limited score. Australia’s first innings was wrapped up on 263 runs. By the end of the first day’s play, England too had lost three wickets and scored 68 runs.
Machile Marsh was the hero for Australia in the first innings of the Headingley Test. However, in a video that is going viral on social media, Marsh is expressing his displeasure over the lack of support from Australian fans. “Yes, most Australians hate me,” he says in the video. They are emotional. He loves cricket. They expect good performance. No doubt, I got a lot of opportunities in Test cricket. But I could not get those opportunities. But hopefully, the fans will respect me.”
This video of Marsh is from a few years back, going viral on social media after the Headingley Test. “But the truth is, I will make a comeback,” Marsh continues in the video. I love playing for the Australian team. I love wearing a baggy green cap and have been trying it out. One day I will win them (the hearts of Australian fans).” As mentioned in the video, Marsh made it back into the squad for the Headingley Test and scored a brilliant century.
Chuffed for Mitchell Marsh.
Remember this from the 2019 Ashes when @beastieboy07 asked him about how he’s viewed back in Australia: “Yeah, most of Australia hate me.” Probably not anymore, Mitch #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/REJJlI7PUL

While all the important players of the Australian team were getting out cheaply, Mitchell Marsh was able to play a big knock for the team. Marsh played his last match against Australia in September 2019. After that, Marsh did not play a single Test in the last four years. But on Thursday, he made a stunning comeback. He scored 118 runs off 118 balls. Apart from that, not a single Australian batsman could score a half-century.
