Ashwin, Bhajji and Zaheer Khan have been the biggest contributors to India’s victories

Ravichandran Ashwin was in great form in the first Test against Australia. This test match between both teams was played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. India won the match by 132 runs on the strength of amazing performance by the spinners. In the second innings, Ashwin’s spin bowled the visiting Australian team and were bowled out for just 91 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin has the highest number of wickets in matches won by the Indian team. Ashwin took three wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second innings in the Nagpur Test against Australia. He made this big record by taking 8 wickets in this match. Ravichandran Ashwin played in 161 matches that India won in all three forms of cricket. Ashwin’s contribution was important to win these matches. He took a total of 489 wickets in these matches. The feat of taking most wickets for India in winning matches was previously held by former legend Anil Kumble. Anil Kumble took 486 wickets in matches won.

On Saturday (February 11), Ashwin overtook Kumble in this special list. Third on the list is Harbhajan Singh, who has taken 406 wickets in matches won for India. However, their spinner Todd Murphy took full advantage of the Nagpur pitch. Murphy took 7 wickets in this first Test match of his career. On the other hand, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma started well in the first innings and the team was able to move towards victory. Rohit scored 120 runs off 212 balls.
