Ashwin’s dominance in Test rankings! clinched the first place, leaving Anderson behind, three Indians in the top-10

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the new individual Test rankings for players on Wednesday (15 March). In the new ranking of bowlers, the experienced spinner of the Indian team Ravichandran Ashwin once again won the first position. He became the top wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, overtaking England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson.

Before the fourth Test in Ahmedabad, Ashwin and Anderson were joint number one. However, Ashwin performed brilliantly in the Ahmedabad Test. He overtook Anderson with seven wickets in the match. Ashwin now has 869 rating points, while Anderson is second with 659 rating points. He now has to wait for the live Ashes series to overtake Ashwin. Meanwhile, Ashwin may also get a chance to play the final match of the World Test Championship.

Apart from these two, Australia’s captain Pat Cummins is at the third place in the rankings. He has 841 rating points to his name. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is at the fourth position with 825 points and Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi is at the fifth position with 787 points. Team India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have dropped one place each to seventh and ninth respectively.

The four-match series against Australia was memorable for Ashwin. He contributed in every match of the series. He took the highest number of wickets in this series with 25 wickets. Along with this, he also won the serial player award along with Ravindra Jadeja.
