India won the Dominica Test match by 1 innings and 141 runs. With this, the Indian team took a 1-0 lead in the series. On the third day of the first Test on Friday (July 14), West Indies were bowled out for 130 runs. So India won the first match easily. Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shined in this match. He completed the quintet of wickets in the first innings and the second innings to create special records. In a record, he became the second Indian to take the most wickets in international cricket.

The batsmen of the West Indies team did not perform well in the second innings either. They had no answer to Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin. Alik Athanaje alone scored the highest innings of 28 runs from Windies. Apart from him, not a single batsman could play a special innings. Additionally, Ashwin’s second record is that he has taken 5 or more wickets in a Test innings 34 times. It was Ashwin’s best bowling performance in any Test innings while playing overseas. Ashwin also took five wickets in the first innings of this match. So he took 12 wickets at the cost of 131 runs in the match. It was Ashwin’s best performance in any Test abroad. It also became the third best overseas bowling performance by an Indian bowler.

Ashwin’s third record is 8 times he has taken 10 or more wickets in any Test. Among the Indian bowlers, Kumble had done such a feat before Ashwin. Now both of them are equal with 8 times. Ashwin now has a chance to overtake Kumble as well. Additionally, Ashwin’s fourth record is that he has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings six times against the West Indies.
