Australian players eyed by IPL franchises! A big event will happen in world cricket

The Indian Premier League is considered to be the richest T20 league in the world. Following India’s lead, many countries around the world started their own leagues like the IPL. Almost every country that plays Test cricket today has its own T20 league. Most of these teams are owned by IPL franchises. As such, an alarm bell is now ringing for Australian cricket.

IPL Franchises have bought teams in South Africa T20, Caribbean Premier League, UAE T20 League and American T20 League. These franchisees are doing everything possible to increase their business. Meanwhile, there are reports that these IPL franchises have contacted some of the key players of the Australian team. The deal could cost the player a whopping 7.5 million Australian dollars to play for a long time with the franchise. According to Australian newspaper A Edge, the IPL franchises that have bought teams around the world are looking to get the Australian players out of contract by paying this huge amount, so that these players remain available for different leagues.

In the past few years, it has often been said that players prefer leagues like the IPL more than the national team. Cricket experts have also expressed this many times. Cricket Australia is likely to face exactly the same problem. Players may treat the national team as secondary as the franchise will fetch huge sums of money. If Australian players are refused a national team contract in the future, it will be nothing to be ashamed of.

New Zealanders Trent Boult and Martin Guptill went the same way last year. Both of them last year refused to sign contracts with the national team, which would have allowed them to play for different franchises overseas, with New Zealand playing a home T20 series against Sri Lanka at the start of IPL 2023. But Trent Boult has been playing in IPL since the first match. The legendary England all-rounder has retired from the ODI and T20 formats and is currently the captain of England’s Test team. Stokes is a vital part of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023. But Stokes will not represent England in the ODI World Cup to be held in India after the IPL.
