Former team captain Mohammad Azharuddin was banned for life by the BCCI in the match-fixing case. On the other hand, Jadeja was banned from all forms of cricket for 5 years. The match against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2000 was the last international match for Azharuddin and Jadeja. Meanwhile, in this match between the two teams, Pakistan scored 295 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs when they batted first. In reply, the Indian team could manage only 251 runs.
