The issue of Asia Cup 2023 is often seen between BCCI and PCB. The controversy that has been going on for almost a year now seems to be finally ending. According to media reports, Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan. But the matches of the Indian team will be held outside Pakistan. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India has stood firm on its point, former Pakistan cricketer Imran Nazeer has made some accusations against the BCCI.
Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be held in Pakistan as scheduled. But, with the Indian team sticking to its stipulation, India’s matches will be held outside Pakistan. The Indian team has to play five matches in this year’s Asia Cup and at least two of them will be against Pakistan. In this case, it is said that the Asian Cricket Conference (ACC) will organize these five matches outside Pakistan. These matches are more likely to be played in UAE. Speaking on the same issue, former Pakistani cricketer Nazir said,
“I don’t know what the problem is with the BCCI and the Indian team. They fear defeat here more than safety. All the top teams in the world have played here. They should stop all excuses and play in Pakistan. Once politics enters sports, there is no choice.”
India and Pakistan do not play bilateral series against each other. The two teams only face each other in ICC tournaments. The last time the Indian team toured Pakistan was in 2006. After the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, the Indian team did not set foot in Pakistan.
