Although Rajasthan won the match on Thursday (May 11), the team’s star player Jos Buttler has been fined heavily by the BCCI. He will have to pay some amount from the match fee in the form of fine. Jos Buttler was found guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct, so the BCCI fined him. Butler admitted his mistake, thereby not taking the action further.

According to the IPL press release, “Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler is on the ball in Kolkata Knight Riders Vs. Rajasthan Royals have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the 56th match of Tata Indian Premier League 2023 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11.”

According to the letter, Buttler accepted a Level 1 offense under Section 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The decision of the match officials for level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct is final and binding. Section 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct deals with misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, on-field items during a match.

According to media reports, when Jos Buttler was walking back towards the tent after being run out, he hit his bat on the boundary in a fit of rage. Therefore, this penalty has been imposed on him.

Talking about this match, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 149 runs while batting first for the loss of 8 wickets. Chasing this challenge, Rajasthan scored 151 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 13.1 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson played a significant role in this victory. Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 while Samson contributed an unbeaten 48 in the match.
