‘BCCI gave you equal pay, yet you…’, ex-India captain fumed at Hamransene
India narrowly lost to Australia in the first semi-final match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. Australia women’s team defeated Indian women’s team by 5 runs. This sparked the hopes of millions of Indians to reach the finals. After the defeat, some supported the women’s team, while many criticized it. Former Indian captain Diana Edulji was also included in it. He has scolded the Indian players well. He said that the players need to show ‘discipline’ for the team to reach the top. BCCI will have to take tough decisions to end the star culture.
Speaking to the news agency, Diana Edulji expressed anger. She said, “I have seen the U-19 team fitter than the senior players. They were not worried about the final match. This is not the first time that India has been choked in the semi-finals. It has been happening with the team from 2017 to 2023.”
That’s that from our semi-final game.

BCCI has to end star culture
Diana further said, “BCCI should end the star culture. They need to show the baton to take the team to the top. BCCI has given you the right to uniform remuneration. Yet you lose every match you win. Now this has become a habit. BCCI needs to take a tough decision.”
A demand for the Yo-Yo test
“India’s poor fielding should lead to a yo-yo test in women’s cricket as well. However, it is difficult for women. They will fail in 12 out of 15 tests. However, there will be a stronger team than the current one, which will be known for its fitness. At this time, the players have no responsibility for the team,” she said further.
Talking about the match, Australia had challenged India by 173 runs. India had to struggle to overcome this challenge. At one point it seemed that the team would win, but the hopes were dashed when Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed. She batted brilliantly and contributed 52 runs in the match. She formed an important partnership with Jemima Rodriguez (43). However, she was unfortunately eliminated in the match. Richa Ghosh contributed 14 runs, Deepti Sharma 20 not out in the match. Sneh Rana returned to the tent with 11 runs. However, the team could only score 167 runs in the end. So Australia pocketed this match by 5 runs.
