With the World Cup still more than three months away, the BCCI is set to spend Rs 500 crore in one fell swoop. BCCI will get Rs 50 crore for each stadium where the World Cup match will be played. BCCI is spending this money to make necessary improvements to the stadium.
According to the information, new flood lights and corporate box are going to be made at the stadium in Mumbai. In Kolkata, the dressing room will be improved. Construction of a new outfield has been underway at the Dharamshala Stadium for the past few months. A temporary roof on the MCA Stadium in Pune. In Delhi, the work of ticketing system, seats and toilets will be done.
Former treasurer of BCCI and member of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Arun Dhumal informed about this. According to Indian Express, Dhumal said, “We have resurfaced the entire stadium. Upgraded corporate box for important executives and guests. Knowledgeable and experienced people were hired for this. Efforts are being made to ensure that we have good facilities to remove water from the stadium. Special grass was brought from abroad for this purpose. The seats of the stadium were changed, the stands were given a new color. There was a leakage problem at the stick, we fixed that too.”
Meanwhile, though the ODI World Cup will begin on October 5, India is scheduled to play its first match on October 8. The final match of the World Cup will be played on November 19. (BCCI to give Rs 50 crore each to upgrade 10 stadiums where ODI World Cup matches will be played)
