Ben Stokes strategises for Ashes 2023 while playing IPL, also considers playing XI

England Test captain Ben Stokes is currently playing for the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. According to the information given by Ben Stokes, the England team is not going to change its batting strategy in the upcoming Ashes series. Stokes and England head coach Brendon McCullum have performed tremendously since taking over the captaincy of the England Test team last year. Stokes and McCullum have been instrumental in helping England win 10 of the last 12 Tests. Under the leadership of Stokes, England’s batsmen were seen batting in coastal cricket just like ODI and T20 cricket. As a result, pressure was put on the opposition bowlers and most of the times the opposition lost. Against this background, England’s batting will not be seen in the upcoming Ashes.

As stated by the English captain, the Ashes starting on June 16 will be fielded with a strong army of fast bowlers. In a recent interview, Stokes said, “I wish I could have picked a 20-man squad. But I told the medical team that I want them to provide eight bowlers to pick me. This year the match is going to be very close. So I think we should have everything we need for every match. We are lucky that we have good players to choose from for the selection process. I know which playing XI to field with.”

Meanwhile, when it comes to England’s bowling attack, they have some dangerous bowlers like the experienced James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and Ollie Stone. This bowling attack of England can definitely pose a problem for the Australian team. Looking at Stokes’ performance in the ongoing IPL, he has scored 15 runs in the first two matches.
