KS Bharat was included as a wicket-keeper batsman in the Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 tournament. Rishabh Pant was injured in an accident and Bharat got a chance to replace him. He scored 101 runs in the entire series. Also, dropped some catches behind the wicket. So now he has to face injuries on social media. Similarly, after the Test series, Sunil Gavaskar was asked the question that who should be given a chance as a wicket-keeper batsman in the final match of the World Test Championship? Let’s find out what he replied to this…
Gavaskar does not want to see Bharat in the final eleven
In fact, the Indian team has booked its ticket to the final of the World Test Championship 2023. Sunil Gavaskar, former legend of the Indian team, has made a big comment before this match. He has said that someone should play the role of wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian team in the WTC final.
Gavaskar said that KL Rahul should be included in the team as a wicket-keeper batsman in the WTC final. He said, “You can see KL Rahul as a wicketkeeper. If he comes to bat at number five or six at the Oval, his batting will be stronger. Because, he did really well in England last year. He also scored a century. When you pick your final eleven for the WTC final, remember Rahul.”
If Rahul is included as a wicket-keeper batsman in the WTC final, it will be clear that KS Bharat will not make it to the final eleven.
‘KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan better than Bharat’
Also discussing wicketkeeper Bharat’s performance, Gavaskar said that picking Rahul for just one Test would provide depth to the Indian batting order. He said that, “Dinesh Karthik had pointed out the shortcomings of India’s wicketkeeping during the commentary. The true test of a wicketkeeper is on pitches where the ball is turning. You can see the way Travis Head was knocked out. When the ball took a turn and hit the stumps, KS Bharath’s gloves were nowhere near the ball. It means that if the ball had not hit the stumps, the opposition would have got four runs. This is indeed a matter of concern. Now it is up to the selection committee whether to take him in the final eleven or not. However, there are no pitches in England where the wicket-keeper has to approach and wait. In such situation you can choose KL Rahul as wicket keeper. Also, you can think of Ishaan Kishan’s name here. His batting will be better than Bharat.”
The final match of the WTC will be played between Australia vs India on June 7-11 at London’s K Oval. It will be important to see how the Indian team performs in this match. (sunil gavaskar gives advice to rohit sharma said drop ks bharat in wtc final 2023 over kl rahul read here)
