On Saturday, Moeen Ali () got a wicket in Test cricket after almost two years on the second day of the match. But for the same day, ICC will charge him 25 percent of the match fee as penalty.
According to the ICC, Moin has violated their code of conduct and is a level-1 offender. He is accused of violating Article 2.20 of the ICC. Along with the match fee, he has also received a demerit point from the ICC for this. This is the first time in the last 24 months that he has received a demerit point. Moeen Ali has also accepted these allegations.
In the 89th over of Australia’s first innings, he was fielding on the Moeen boundary. He wanted to bowl in the next over. He was seen spraying his hands before going to the bowling alley. As stated by the ICC, the players could not touch anything without the permission of the umpires. But Moin Ali applied this spray on his hand without taking permission. After the day’s play, the umpires discussed the matter and decided on the course of action.
Overall, England won the toss and elected to bat first. England declared their first innings at 393 for 8 in 78 overs. In reply, Australia’s first innings was bundled out for 386 runs. (Moeen Ali found guilty of breaching the ICC Code Of Conduct He’s fined 25% match fees and one demerit point.)
