Australia’s regular captain Pat Cummins will not be available for the ODI series as well. In this way, Steve Smith will once again be seen taking charge of Australia’s leadership.

The Australian team came to India this year under the leadership of Pat Cummins. But after the first two Tests, Cummins had to return home. Cummins reached home citing his mother’s unwell health. Cummins’ mother, Maria, had been battling breast cancer for a long time. Maria finally breathed her last last week. The Australian team heard this sad news when the last Test match between India and Australia (India Vs Australia) was underway.

After his mother’s death, Cummins was expected to lead the team again in the ODI series. But according to Cricket Australia, Cummins will not be available for the ODI series against India as well. After his mother’s funeral, Cummins will spend a few more days with the family. Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald gave information about this. Macdonald said, “Pat cannot come back to India. He is still worried about whatever happened at home. Our condolences go out to Pat and his family as they go through this difficult time.”

Meanwhile, under the leadership of Cummins, the Australian team could not do anything special in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Cummins led the team for the first two matches and India won the match by a wide margin. In the first test, India lost by an innings and 132 runs, while in the second test, India lost by 6 wickets. After handing over the captaincy to Steve Smith for the third Test match, Australia won by 9 wickets. For the fourth Test as well, in Cummins’ absence, the Australian team played under the leadership of Smith and the match ended in a draw.
