Big update on Border Gavaskar Trophy, 3rd Test match in Dharamsala cancelled!

The border Gavasakhar Trophy between India and Australia is currently in full swing. The first match of the series was played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. India won the match by an innings and 132 runs. The second match between the two teams will be played from February 17 in Delhi. However, big information has come out about the third match of the series. The third Test match was to be held at Dharamsala. But now this match is going to be canceled and played somewhere else.

The first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2023) saw the pitch favor the spinners. As a result, the Australian team could not perform as expected here and were dismissed cheaply in both the innings. In Dharamsala too, the pitch has been seen to be bowler-friendly and here too the batsmen can be seen struggling to score runs. However, the BCCI has canceled the match here starting from March 1. Now this third match of the series will be held at Holkar Stadium located in Indore.

According to media reports, BCCI Curator Taposh Chatterjee inspected the Dharamshala Stadium pitch. It was the BCCI who had sent him here to conduct an overall inspection of the stadium. Chatterjee submitted his final report to the BCCI. After looking at the stadium report and overall situation, BCCI officials have canceled the match at this venue. According to a senior BCCI source, “BCCI has certain rules for the stadiums for the matches to be played. No competitive match has been played on this ground and the outfield is not ready.”

Meanwhile, the Indian team needs to win at least the next two matches against Australia to reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship. After clinching the series, India’s place in the finals can be considered almost certain. Currently, India is leading 1-0 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
