Prasad said that Rahane’s return to the team ahead of the World Test Championship 2023 final is a good thing.

‘Choosing Rahane in the team is a commendable decision’
Speaking to the media, Prasad said that the return of the former vice-captain in Tests is an important step, especially in the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. Prasad also lauded the selection committee for selecting the right team for the WTC finals to be played from June 7 to 11 at London’s K Oval ground. He said, “This is the perfect team. There was so much uncertainty in the middle order. According to me, these selectors were absolutely right. I am very happy for Rahane. He has always been a brilliant batsman for India overseas. I think his choice is absolutely right. I credit Rahane’s comeback to the selectors.”

Praise for Rahane
Speaking further, Prasad praised Rahane’s attitude and strong mentality. He said, “Basically his attitude is that of a hermit. When he is not selected, he is never upset. Also, when he gets selected, he doesn’t get too excited either. He is that kind of person. His mood does not fluctuate. He is a very mature person.”

In fact, Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from the Indian Test team last year due to his poor form. Currently, the main reason behind his comeback in the Indian team is said to be his brilliant performance in the IPL. He is scoring runs at a strike rate of around 200. Also, he looks in good form.
