Former Indian captain and wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni turns 42 today (July 7). On that occasion, he is showered with wishes from all walks of life. He has set many big records in his career. These records of his are being commemorated on his birthday.
Dhoni made his debut in international cricket in 2004. He then played more than 530 matches in international cricket. Also scored more than 17 thousand runs. He last played in international cricket in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in July.
Interestingly, this was Dhoni’s 350th ODI match in his career. This made him only the second wicketkeeper in the world to play 350 ODI matches. Earlier, former Sri Lankan legendary wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara has played 360 ODI matches as a wicketkeeper.
Interestingly, Sangakkara has played a total of 404 ODI matches in his career. But he has played 44 of these matches only as a batsman.
At the same time, Dhoni has become the 10th cricketer overall and only the second cricketer from India to play 350 ODIs. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar has played more than 350 ODI matches for India. Sachin has played 463 ODI matches.
Out of 350 ODI matches, Dhoni has played 3 matches for Asia XI. So he has played 347 ODI matches for India.
