The mini auction for the Indian Premier League 2023 tournament was held last year i.e. in December 2022. In this auction, Chennai Super Kings added English all-rounder Ben Stokes to their team at a cost of Rs 16.25 crore. However, now a shocking news is coming out for CSK team. Stokes will not be seen playing in any other matches of the IPL 2023 tournament. Due to this, fans are now saying that 16.25 crores of Chennai have gone down the drain.

In fact, Ben Stokes will return home after CSK’s last league match. According to media reports, Stokes will return to England after Saturday’s (May 20) match against Delhi Capitals, where he will prepare for the Ashes series.

Ben Stokes played only two matches
Interestingly, Ben Stokes has played only 2 matches in the IPL 2023 tournament so far. He also played these matches at the beginning of the tournament. He scored 7 and 8 runs in both the opening matches respectively. Also, he also spent 18 runs while bowling just 1 over. He did not take any wickets. After playing the first two matches, Stokes injured his toe and his left knee also appeared to be injured. However, Stokes is currently fit.

Stokes was supposed to go on June 1
According to media reports, Ben Stokes will return to England after the final league match against Delhi on May 20. However, before that it was said that Stokes will return to Lord’s on June 1, where he will be part of the one-off Test against Ireland. However, now Stokes is going to leave the IPL 10 days earlier to prepare for the Ashes series and return home.

What did Fleming say about Stokes’ injury?
Regarding the injury of Ben Stokes, the head coach Stephen Fleming also recently said that Stokes is fit now. However, his place in the playing eleven cannot be confirmed. The reason behind this is the good performance of the players playing in the team. Chennai are currently fielding four foreign players in Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Mathisha Pathirana and Mahish Thiksha. All four of them are doing well.
