The final of the World Test Championship 2023 is just a few hours away. In this match India vs Australia teams will be facing each other. Just a few hours before this very important match, the International Cricket Council i.e. ICC has made a big revelation. It is said that not one but two pitches have been prepared for this match.
Currently, the ‘Just Stop Oil’ campaign is going on in England. The protesters are demanding that the government should close the licenses given to oil, gas and coal companies. These protestors had also blocked the bus of the England cricket team a few days ago. In the background of all this, it is said that two pitches have been prepared so that if these protestors do something unexpected in the field, it will not affect the match. In a similar protest on the last day of the final match of the 1975 Ashes series, the match had to be canceled after protesters poured oil on the pitch at night.
Only then will the match be played on the second pitch
As per ICC Rule 6.4 Pitch Change Rule, the main pitch for a match is changed if it is damaged due to some external reason. However, this will require the permission of both the captains. Currently, as the security around the ground is high, the possibility of such an incident is less. However, ICC has taken this decision as a precautionary measure.
The match will be played at Kennington Oval in London. The match to be played between June 7 and 11 will also be played on a reserve day in case of prolonged rain interruption. By winning this match, both the teams will be looking to win the World Test Championship for the first time.
