Brendon McCullum found in controversy? One year ban can be imposed in serious cases, read in detail

The sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) is currently being played in various cities across India. In the first two weeks, the audience got to see very exciting fights. Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who is known as the first superstar in the IPL history, is now in trouble due to an IPL related case. Strict action can also be taken against him in this case.

McCullum, who is currently the head coach of England’s Test team, has been in trouble for promoting a betting company. Last month, McCullum signed a deal with a betting company as a brand ambassador. He then promoted this company through his social media handle. The issue of the same ad has hit the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Gambling Foundation of New Zealand.

The ECB is currently investigating the matter. The ECB will decide whether to refer the matter to the ECB’s anti-corruption department. According to ECB rules, no person associated with the team can directly or indirectly support betting. Anyone encouraging people to bet by advertising like this is liable to action. A one-year ban is imposed on the person if found guilty in this case.

McCullum is known as one of the respected cricketers in international cricket. He represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions, Kochi and RCB in IPL. Also, he was also the head coach of KKR last season after which he took charge as the head coach of England. (Brendon McCullum Inquiry Cause Of Promoting Betting Site)
