Captain Rahul is failing for the benefit of Lucknow! These statistics in IPL 2023 are amazing
Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Supergiants match was played in IPL on Friday (April 28). More than 200 runs were scored by both the teams in this match. Batting first, Lucknow scored 257 for 5. In reply, Punjab Kings were bowled out for 201 runs in 19.4 overs. Although Lucknow managed to win by 56 runs, skipper KL Rahul failed.
After getting a chance to bat first, KL Rahul got a life on the very first ball. However, even then he could score only 12 runs. After that, it rained runs on the field. Opener Kyle Meyers got the team off to a fast start with a 24-ball 54. Ayush Badoni followed with 43 at number three, Stoinis at number four with 72 and then Nicholas Pooran at number five with 45 off 19 balls.
One thing that has been consistent with the Lucknow team this season is that after the early dismissal of captain KL Rahul, the team has been able to score big runs. After Rahul was dismissed for just 18 runs against RCB, the team was chasing 213 runs. Even against Chennai, after he was dismissed for twenty runs, the team reached 205. Even against Delhi, after he was dismissed for 8 runs, the team was able to reach 193.
At the same time Rahul batted slowly in the four matches. The team could not even reach 160 there. He scored 72 off 56 balls against Punjab and 68 off 61 balls against Gujarat. He scored 39 off 32 balls against Rajasthan and 35 off 31 balls against Hyderabad. So Rahul himself seems to be beneficial for his team in this way.
