Chahal given new title by Samson after ‘historic’ performance, requests others too
Rajasthan Royals won the 56th match of IPL 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets. With this win, Rajasthan secured their sixth win of the season and took the third position in the points table. In this match, legendary spinner of Rajasthan team Yuzvendra Chahal made a special record. In this match, Chahal became the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. Team captain Sanju Samson praised him after being asked about his performance.
Before this match, Chahal was joint-top with Dwayne Bravo in terms of most wickets. In this match, he took his first wicket in the form of Nitish Rana and took the top spot. He played the lion’s share in restricting KKR’s innings to 149 with four crucial wickets for 25 runs in the entire match.
Speaking after the match, Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson was asked about Chahal’s record and said,
“I think he should be given the title of veteran now. You have been doing this for many years. We are very lucky to have him on our team. He doesn’t have to say anything. Given the ball, he does his best. It’s definitely a pleasure to see his record.”
Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, the host Kolkata Knight Riders managed to score 149 for 8 in 20 overs. Rajasthan were set a target of 150 for victory, which they achieved in just 13.1 overs. Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls, while Samson smashed an unbeaten 48 off 29 balls. With this win, Rajasthan has maintained its challenge.
