‘…could be my last series’, Ashwin’s heartache to wife; Spinner’s big reveal

India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin tops the list of the best bowlers in the world at the moment. R Ashwin was left out of the playing eleven in the recent World Test Championship match between India and Australia. Because of this, the captain Rohit Sharma and the team management were criticized. Now Ashwin has made a shocking revelation. In an interview, he has revealed what R Ashwin said to his wife Preeti Narayanan.

In an interview, R Ashwin said that he had told his wife Prithi Narayanan that the series against Australia in February could be the last series.

Ashwin mentioned his injury while talking to the media. He said, “When I came back from Bangladesh in December 2022, I told my wife that the domestic series against Australia could be my last series. I have a knee problem and I am thinking of making a change in action.”

He added that, “The swelling had increased since the Test against Bangladesh. Then I got into the bowling action during 2013-14. Went to NCA, Bangalore for this injury, after which started bowling and also got relief from knee problem.” Interestingly, Ashwin won the Man of the Series award in the series against Australia.

Ashwin said about playing in the WTC final, “It’s a bit difficult to answer. However, I would have liked to have played the final.”

Talking about Ashwin’s bowling career, he has played 92 Tests, 113 ODIs and 65 T20 Internationals for India. He has 474 wickets to his name in Tests. He is the highest wicket-taker for India after Anil Kumble. Additionally, Ashwin has taken 151 wickets in ODIs and 72 wickets in T20Is.
