He expressed his displeasure over not getting a chance to play in the 2019 World Cup. According to him, a year before the World Cup, he was given a word by a senior BCCI official that he would get an opportunity to play in the upcoming World Cup. “In 2018, BCCI officials told me to be ready for the 2019 ODI,” Rayudu said in an interview. However, Rayudu was shown his way out of the team just in time.

The Indian squad for the ODI World Cup was announced on 15 April 2019. Then on the very next day i.e. 16 April 2019, Rayudu targeted the selectors by making a special tweet. “Just ordered 3D goggles to watch World Cup,” he wrote in a tweet. This post of Rayudu went viral and he also received support from his fans.

Meanwhile, Rayudu remains in the limelight even in IPL 2023. He scored 19 runs off 8 balls for CSK in the final match. Rayudu’s innings against Gujarat Titans was crucial for CSK’s victory. Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four off the last two balls to give the team victory. Rayudu also retired from all forms of cricket after winning the sixth IPL trophy in his career.
