Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. During the coin toss, Dhoni spoke about a change in the team. Dhoni dropped Pathisha Pathirana from the playing XI and replaced him with Ambati Rayudu. So a special record was registered in the name of Rayudu.

This is Ambati Rayudu’s 200th match in IPL (Ambati Rayudu 200th IPL Match). He thus became the 9th player in IPL to play 200 matches. So far, Rayudu has represented two teams in the IPL. One is Chennai Super Kings and the other is Mumbai Indians. Rayudu has so far played only 85 matches for Chennai, while he played 114 matches for Mumbai. Rayudu is now playing his 86th match for Chennai against Delhi.

He has so far scored 1869 runs with 1 century at an average of 30.63 for Chennai. Also, he scored 2416 runs at an average of 27.14 while playing for Mumbai. He has scored 4285 runs in 199 matches at an average of 28.56. This includes 1 century.

MS Dhoni is the top player who has played more than 200 matches in IPL. Dhoni has played 246 matches so far. After that, Dinesh Karthik is at the second position and he has played 240 matches, Rohit Sharma at the third position with 238 matches, Virat Kohli at the fourth position with 234 matches. Also, Ravindra Jadeja at the fifth position with 222, Shikhar Dhawan at the sixth position with 214, Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa at the joint seventh position with 205 matches each.
