In an interview, when asked about his retirement, de Villiers said, “At the time, the atmosphere in the team was the biggest problem for me. Speaking further, de Villiers said, “I had a lot of responsibility to run things. Which I thought was very good. However, you need a group of four to five people who understand these things. De Villiers has scored 22 centuries and 8765 runs at an average of 50.66 in Tests. Also, he has also scored 2 double centuries in Tests. He has scored 25 centuries and 9577 runs at an average of 53.5 in ODIs. Additionally, he has scored 1672 runs at an average of 26.12 in T20Is.
