“Deccan Chargers gave a chance to lead before Mumbai”, revealed Rohit

The Indian Premier League 2023 competition has reached its final stage. The eliminator match of this tournament is Lucknow Super Giants Vs. Will be played in Mumbai Indians team. The match is scheduled to start at 7.30 pm on Wednesday (May 24) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Mumbai Indians will look to win this match to advance to their seventh final. Before that, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma expressed his opinion on many issues in an interview.

Speaking to an online platform that telecasts the IPL, he said,

“The leadership started with Deccan Chargers. In the second year i.e. 2009, he made me vice-captain. Giving a huge responsibility on the shoulder of a young player, he gave me an opportunity to have a good synergy with the Indian players. The team did well that year and we won the title.”

Rohit started his IPL career with the then Hyderabad-based franchise Deccan Chargers. After finishing in eighth place in the first season, the team achieved tremendous success and won the title in the second year. Rohit won the best young player award at that time.

In the IPL 2011 auction, Mumbai Indians made a huge bid and roped him into their squad. Then in 2013, he was given the leadership of the team. Rohit showed his leadership qualities by leading Mumbai to the title in the very first year. Mumbai have so far won the IPL title five times under the leadership of Rohit. In addition, Rohit has been serving as the captain of the Indian team in all three types of cricket for the past one and a half years.
