Delhi beat Mumbai for World Cup winner ‘Captain’ Shefali, counting as much as 2 crores in the team

In the ongoing Women’s Premier League auction, many Indian cricketers have been bid heavily. Captain Shafali Verma, who led the Indian team to the title in the recent Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup, also fetched a bid of two crores. Delhi Capitals roped her into their team when they overcame Mumbai Indians.

She is currently one of the most aggressive players in international cricket. She can easily hit sixes on any ground. She is also the captain of the Under-19 T20 World Cup winning Indian team. She has established her dominance in international cricket at a very young age, and for this reason, it was expected that she would fetch a huge bid in this auction.

As expected, four teams bid on her. After RCB withdrew around one crore, Mumbai and Delhi saw a strong tug-of-war for her. Finally, Delhi made her a Delhikar by paying 2 crore rupees. India’s second young player Jemima Rodrigues is also included in the team.
