Delhi Capitals out of playoff race! Find out how it compares to other teams

Delhi Capitals lost to Punjab Kings on Saturday (May 13). After this defeat, the Delhi team is out of the race for IPL 2023 Playoffs. Nine other teams are still in contention for the four playoff spots. In this article, we are going to take a look at these nine teams and find out how they stack up for the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans:
Gujarat Titans have won a total of eight matches so far. With 16 points, Gujarat Titans team is on the first position in the points table. Thus, their place in the playoffs is almost certain. Gujarat still have two matches to play in the league stage. If they win the next two matches, Gujarat will have a total of 20 points. Also, if Gujarat loses in these two matches, the team can still secure a place in the playoffs due to their good run rate. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be targeting Gujarat in the next match.

Chennai Super Kings:
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Singh are currently at the second position in the points table. CSK has a total of 15 points. In the league stage, Dhoni’s team still has matches to play against Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. One more match win, however, will seal CSK’s ticket to the playoffs. But if CSK loses both these matches, then the team’s journey ahead will be tough.

Mumbai Indians:
Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have won seven matches so far and are at the third position with 14 points. Mumbai will have to win the next two matches to stay in the playoff race. Mumbai have to play their next two league stage matches against Lucknow and Hyderabad. If Mumbai can win even one of these matches, then Mumbai will have to compete in the net run rate race with the other teams.

Lucknow Super Giants:
Lucknow team is fourth in the points table with 14 points. Lucknow have next two matches to play against Mumbai and Kolkata. Lucknow will have to win both these matches to reach the playoffs. If Lucknow can win even one of these matches, the team will depend on the performance of the other teams for the playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals:
Rajasthan Royals are currently fifth in the points table with 12 points. However, the path to the playoffs is still open for the team. If Rajasthan wins both the matches against RCB and Punjab Kings, the team will have a total of 16 points. Even with 16 points, Rajasthan can qualify for the playoffs.

Punjab Kings:
Punjab Kings won against Delhi Capitals on Saturday (May 13). This is their sixth win of the season and the team is sixth with 12 points. Punjab will next play against Delhi and Rajasthan. If the team wins both these matches, the team will remain in the playoff race with 16 points. Punjab will also need to improve their net run rate.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Royal Challengers Bangalore team is currently seventh in the points table with 10 points. RCB still have three matches to play. RCB will play three matches against Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. RCB will have to win all these three matches to reach the playoffs. After winning these three matches, Asaribi will have 16 points and the team will be in the race for the playoffs. Improving net run rate will be essential for RCB.

Kolkata Knight Riders:
Kolkata Knight Riders team is ranked eighth in the points table with 10 points. The team’s journey to the playoffs looks tough. KKR have next two matches to play against Lucknow and CSK. After winning both the matches, the team will have 14 points. If the fourth ranked team with 14 points is selected, KKR might get a chance somewhere.
