After the Test and ODI series against West Indies, India will also play a five-match T20I series in this tour. The BCCI announced the Indian squad on Wednesday (July 5) for the series, which starts on August 3. This team will be led by Hardik Pandya and some important changes have been seen in the team. However, the selection committee ignored Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, who were the most discussed to be selected in the Indian team.

Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma were expected to get a chance in this series due to their tremendous performance in IPL. Along with him, it was speculated that the selection committee may also give another chance to Rituraj Gaikwad. However, the selection committee allowed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Verma to join the Indian T20 squad for the first time. So, Ishan Kishan managed to retain his place as wicket keeper.

Jitesh Sharma scored 309 runs at an average of over 156 in 14 matches in IPL 2023. He also managed to hit first-ball sixes in several matches. Rinku Singh, on the other hand, had a consistent performance throughout the tournament. While playing for KKR, he single-handedly won matches while playing the role of a finisher. He scored 5 sixes in a row against Gujarat to lead the team to a historic victory. So, Rituraj Gaikwad played the lion’s share in making Chennai the IPL champions by scoring more than 500 runs.
