“Dhoni’s hand behind Rohit’s success today”, Gambhir openly admits

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is currently considered as one of the best batsmen in the world. He is considered by many to be the best batsman, especially in limited overs cricket. After starting his career as a middle-order batsman, he made a name for himself as an opener. Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has said that former Indian captain MS Dhoni has played a major role in his success so far.

Rohit is currently the captain of all three Indian teams. Gambhir clearly stated that Dhoni has contributed a lot to what he has earned so far in his career. Gambhir said,

“If you don’t have the captain’s support, you can’t do much. Selection committee and team management are also not outside the captain’s word. Dhoni believed in Rohit from the beginning. He was often given a chance. The result of which we are seeing now is where Rohit’s career is. Dhoni’s role was important in this.”

Speaking further, Gambhir expressed the same expectation from Rohit. he said,

“The way Dhoni supported Rohit, Rohit should now support the players. Players like Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson deserve more opportunities.”

Rohit, who plays in the middle order, was promoted by Dhoni as an opener in 2013. Since then he has done his best till now for the Indian team as an opener. He is included among the greatest Indian openers of all time.
