The 61st match of IPL 2023 was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Kolkata defeated Chennai by 6 wickets in this match played on Sunday (May 14). This was Chennai’s last home match of the season. After this match, the entire team of Chennai was seen walking around the field.

Chennai lost their last match at home. However, like every year, after the final home match, the Chennai players greeted the fans at the Chepauk Stadium and distributed gifts to them. Under the leadership of Chennai’s captain MS Dhoni, the entire team toured the field. Balls signed by the players, jerseys and various gifts were distributed on this occasion.

This was Dhoni’s last league match in Chennai. Chennai can now play one more match at this ground if they qualify for the play-offs. Because, Chennai has got the host title of qualifier one and eliminator matches. This could be the last season for Dhoni who is in the last phase of his career.

If we consider this match, Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. However, his decision turned out to be somewhat wrong in front of the KKR bowlers. All the KKR bowlers kept Chennai to 144 with disciplined batting. Shivam Dubey top scored with 48 runs. KKR got off to a poor start in chasing these runs. They had lost three wickets in the first five overs. However, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh scored half-centuries to help the team win by six wickets. Chennai’s final league match will be against Delhi Capitals in Delhi.
