The second match of the 16th season of IPL was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals on Saturday (May 6). Delhi defeated RCB by 7 wickets in this match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Although Delhi won the match by a margin, an incident that happened after the match caught everyone’s attention.

Delhi comfortably overcame huge expectations for victory to register their fourth win. After the match, an interesting incident took place when both the teams were shaking hands. RCB senior player Virat Kohli and Delhi Capitals head of cricket Sourav Ganguly were seen shaking hands. Both the legends avoided shaking hands in the first match between the two teams. After that, it was said that the dispute between the two was not resolved.

It was revealed that there was a dispute between Virat and Ganguly after Virat left the leadership of the T20 team in 2021. The controversy was sparked by both of them making opposing statements. Ganguly had said at that time that there was no discussion about Virat resigning from the captaincy. While reacting to this statement of Ganguly, who was the then president of BCCI, Virat said that he had discussed it. After that, these two were often seen avoiding each other even after coming forward.

Considering this match, RCB scored 181 for 4 in the stipulated 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Mahipal Lomror. In reply, Delhi Capitals chased down the target of 182 runs in 16.4 overs. Delhi opener Phil Salt became the match winner. Salt scored 87 runs off 45 balls. This is Delhi’s fourth win and they need to win all the remaining four matches to qualify for the play-offs.
