Directly chasing ‘Sixer King’ Yuvi, Umesh in the ‘Special’ list! Ravi Shastri’s feat also destroyed

The India vs Australia (INDvAUS) third Test has started in Indore from Wednesday (March 1). Taking a 2-0 lead in the 4-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023) Test series, the Indian team managed to cross the century mark in the first innings of the third Test. Not much was expected from the bottom batsmen after the top batsmen failed. However, fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who was playing his first match in the series, brought a big record in his short innings.

The leading batsmen of the Indian team also failed in this match. India lost their 8 wickets in just 88 runs. Umesh Yadav then came in to bat at number ten. He adopted an aggressive strategy from the start to take the Indian team to their innings hundred. He scored 17 runs off 13 balls with one four and two sixes. With these two sixes, he surpassed two of India’s greats in Test cricket.

Umesh has hit 24 sixes in his Test career so far. In this regard, he equaled India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli. So, former India captain and legendary all-rounder Ravi Shastri and Yuvraj Singh, popularly known as the Sixer King, were overtaken. Shastri has hit 22 sixes while playing 80 Test matches in his career. On the other hand, Yuvraj has hit the boundary 22 times in his 40-match Test career.

Virender Sehwag tops the list of batsmen who have hit most sixes in Tests for the Indian team with 90 sixes. Also, former captain MS Dhoni is in second place and has hit 78 sixes. Apart from him, Sachin Tendulkar is in the third place, he had hit 69 sixes. Also, current Indian captain Rohit Sharma is at the fourth position with 68 sixes.
