The ODI Cricket World Cup will be played in India in the month of October November this year. The Indian team is considered as the title contender for this World Cup. Since the Indian team has the host title, many people have favored India for the title. When asked about this World Cup, Indian team’s head coach Rahul Dravid told his plan.
Rahul Dravid addressed the press ahead of the third ODI between India and Australia. In this press conference, he was asked some questions about the preparations for the upcoming World Cup. At this time Dravid said,
“We have been very clear about the plans for the World Cup. 17 to 18 players are on our radar, from whom the final squad will be decided. Some of the players in this team are currently injured. However, we expect him to be fully fit before the World Cup.”
Dravid further said,
“We want a flexibility in the team. India is a big country and World Cup matches have to be played under different conditions. For that, it is necessary to be such a player. Sometimes you may need four fast bowlers and sometimes three spinners. So we are testing players in different situations.”
India has not won any World Cup since last 12 years. The last time India won the ODI World Cup under the leadership of MS Dhoni was in 2011. After that, in two consecutive World Cups, the Indian team had to lose in the semi-finals. Therefore, captain Rohit Sharma and the Indian team have set a goal to elevate the World Cup that is being held in the country.
