“Match referee Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel has accused both teams of bowling two overs less than expected,” the ICC said in a statement released on Wednesday. Australian captain Pat Cummins and England captain Ben Stokes have both accepted these allegations. This means that no formal hearing is required.”

The first match of Ashes 2023 was played at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Visiting Australia defeated hosts England by 2 wickets in the first match. This is Australia’s first win in the new WC season and they got 12 points for it. However, the ICC has imposed two WTC points on both the teams for not maintaining the pace of the overs. In this way, Australia’s score has become 10 in the WTC scorecard. On the other hand, England, who lost, suffered a big blow in the first match. England score is -2.

Big action has also been taken by the ICC against the players of both the teams. The ICC has deducted 40 percent of the match fee earned by the players of both the teams. 20 percent is deducted for one over. In the Edgbaston Test, 40 per cent of the players’ mat fees have been cut due to two overs each being bowled by both teams. Coming to the Ashes series, the Australian team has taken a 0-1 lead with the first win. The second match of the series will be played at the historic Lord’s Stadium from June 28 to July 2.
